Big Boys Men’s Camp and Big Brothers Big Sisters Together

Paul Fruchbom

BIG BOYS MEN'S CAMP MOVES TO THE SPRING: 2008 marks the fifth year of Big Boys Men's Camp, but the sixth year of planning. Due to the fires at Big Bear in October of 2007, camp had to be cancelled. It has been rescheduled for May 2008 and will most likely remain in the spring for the foreseeable future. A BIG "Thank You" to our sponsors for their continued support, many of whom converted their sponsorships into straight donations for 2007. While Big Boys Men's Camp has raised over $250,000 in the past four years, our focus on raising funds for Big Brothers Big Sisters will allow us to dramatically increase our contributions for the future of our young people in Orange County. You can read below to see how Big Brothers is helping transform the lives of Orange County at-risk youth.

This year we have moved to a Thursday afternoon through Saturday morning format to accommodate many participants who find it difficult to attend on the weekend. Big Boys Men's Camp is scheduled from noon Thursday, May 15, to 9:00 a.m. Saturday, May 17, 2008 at The YMCA Camp Whittle in Big Bear.

There will be non-stop sessions starting Thursday afternoon and continuing all day Friday, plus evening activities such as billiards, darts, guest speakers, and magic demonstrations. Choose from over 30 activities including fly fishing, pistol and trap shooting, archery, billiards, golf, and backhoe time trials. Or, you may simply choose to enhance your cooking and tasting skills with classes such as beer, scotch or wine tasting, gourmet barbecue, and cigar tasting. Sign up soon! Camp will sell out! --PAUL FRUCHBOM, Head Counselor

WE ARE EXCITED TO PARTNER WITH BIG BOYS MEN'S CAMP to raise funds to dramatically impact the lives of even more children in Orange County. As Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County celebrates its 50th Anniversary, we have a renewed focus on growth, and a renewed commitment to bringing our life-changing program to every child who needs and wants it.

Your support through Big Boys Men's Camp will help make Big magic for children in your local community by helping us to recruit new Big Brother and Big Sister volunteers, ensuring that trained professionals match children to caring and responsible Bigs, offering ongoing one-on-one supervision and support for every match, and providing cultural and social activities to enrich the opportunities for children.

Please join us at Camp for a memorable gathering for a great cause. Thank you for your support! -- GUS VALDESPINO, CEO, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County.
